gf_order

Number of elements of a finite field

Syntax

q = gf_order(F)

Arguments

F: A field created by gf_create_field.
q: The order p^n of the field.

Description

gf_order(F) returns the number of elements p^n of the field F. Its multiplicative group has q - 1 elements.

Examples

F = gf_create_field(2, 4);
gf_order(F)       // 16
gf_order(gf_create_field(3, 5))   // 243
